Awards

The laureates are entitled to call themselves “Laureate of the International Telemann Competition”.

The following prizes will be awarded in both categories (historical string instruments and chamber music ensembles):

1st prize (Central German Baroque Music Prize): EUR 7,500
2nd prize: EUR 5,000
3rd prize: EUR 2,500

The awards are non-divisible.

In addition, a special prize of EUR 1,000 can be awarded for the best obbligato and basso continuo playing in the chamber music ensemble category. This award is divisible.

At the discretion of the organizer, the respective awards may include participation in a concert as part of the 26th Magdeburg Telemann Festival in March 2026. Furthermore, special prizes may be awarded, including awards from the Rotary Club and the Melante Foundation Magdeburg, the Bärenreiter Urtext Award as well as an audience award. In addition, the laureates may also expect concert engagements at renowned early music festivals.
