23. Magdeburger Telemann-Festtage
„Telemann und das Konzert“
Telemann and the concert
11th - 20th March 2016, in the city of Telemann's birth
The 23rd Magdeburger Telemann-Festtage are dedicated to the topic “Telemann and the concert” and bring musical works into focus, which Telemann himself used to present as a concert promoter. In addition you will find compositions in the festival programme, that showcase Telemann’s imaginative approach to concertizing principles.
The upcoming Magdeburger Telemann-Festtage let the visitor discover the versatility of the concept “concert”. And just like with concerts, one cannot imagine the public music scene of the 18th century without the opera. Telemann’s “Damon” presents an Arcadia where a satyr is causing quite some turmoil ...
Outstanding performers are being expected at the 23rd Magdeburger Telemann-Festtage, among them Daniel Hope and the Berliner Barocksolisten, Klaus Mertens and the Leipziger Barockorchester, Hans Christoph Rademann with the Gächinger Kantorei, Michael Schneider and his ensemble La Stagione Frankfurt, the italian Ensemble Cordia conducted by Stefano Veggetti, Florian Heyerick from Belgium, as well as Echo award winners NeoBarock and Dorothee Oberlinger with her Ensemble 1700.
The production of the Telemann opera “Damon” in cooperation with the Theater Magdeburg is going to be a reunion with the ensemble Opera Fuoco (Paris) conducted by David Stern.
