Prof. Elizabeth Wallfisch receives 2021 Telemann-Award

Award winner announced / Festive ceremony on September 17, 2021

The renowned violinist Prof. Elizabeth Wallfisch (Croydon, Great Britain) will receive the Georg-Philipp-Telemann-Award 2021 in Magdeburg. The ceremony will be led by the Mayor of Magdeburg, Dr. Lutz Trümper, on September 17 during an award ceremony at the Gesellschaftshaus Magdeburg.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation the 11th International Telemann Competition has been postponed. It will now take place from August 29 to September 4, 2021. In accordance with the postponement, the application deadline has been moved to April 15, 2021 (date as per postmark). All applications that have hitherto been submitted will remain unaffected by these changes.

For the eleventh time, the Internationale Telemann-Gesellschaft e.V. extends an invitation to participate in the International Telemann Competition in Magdeburg (Germany). This year’s installment invites applicants for historical woodwind instruments. The competition will take place from August 29 to September 4, 2021 in Telemann’s birthplace and comprises three rounds, that are open to the public. The Gesellschaftshaus, where the Zentrum für Telemann-Pflege und -Forschung also has its base, will serve as the competition venue.

Prizes of EUR 15,500 in total can be awarded and concert opportunities at the Magdeburg Telemann Festival and other renowned early music festival will be granted to the prize winners.

Applications for participation are possible as of now and will be open until Thursday, April 15, 2021 (date of postal stamp).
